Benxi Water Cave

Benxi Water Cave, a tourist cave, is located 35 km east of Benxi City on the banks of the Taizi River in Liaoning Province (China). The main axis of the Benxi Water Cave has a length of 1.65 km. The cave area is located in the north part of the Liaoning Fault Block, which is to the east of the North China Fault Block.

This cave, a nationally important scenic spot, consists entirely of an underground river channel and is the longest cave in China of this kind. The underground river is generally 6 to 8 m wide, the water depth is 2 to 3.5 meters, the height of the cave 10 20 meters.

Dr. ZHANG Jian a well-known Chinese swimming sporter and his tour in the BANXI Water Cave!

All items on these three pages are dedicated to the Chinese swimmer. dr. Zhang. On the previous page an envelope issued for this event which took place on 25 May 2004.

On this page a sheet of stamps (not too easy to see due to second generation photocopy). Each of these 16 stamps has a tab depicting a scene of his swimming-tour through the cave.

These tabs are tied to a stamp of 80f issued on 5 August 2003. This special stamp depicts a ship, on it's way under favourable wind to send best wishes to friends.

Two Postcards of Benxi Water Cave

These cards have imprinted stamps of 60f. The pre-stamped sides are the same, a scene from Benxi Cave, the reverses depict also stamp-like scenes of the swimming performance.
