French ”Flamme” of Ste Croix du Mont |
The caves (grottes) are not real caves, but artificial - dug out in
oysters! The site overlooking the river Garonne is crowned by small cliffs
(8 to 10 m. high) constituted by millions of fossil oyster shells.
Natives have dug small galleries (10-20 meters long) in these shells and
you will find there tables and chairs to degust the fabulous white wine
of Ste Croix du Mont (which name means Holy Cross of the Mountain). |
