In the Brazil there is the tradition of printing stamps with environment scenes, but not with caves. However, there are some stamps from karstic regions or with rock art, as showed on the table below and related in past SSC or SI.

Number 754 from 1964:This tower stone is the symbol of the State Park of Vila Velha, in Ponta Grossa City, in Parana State. Many other towers and any other karstic forms, including caves, are common forms of the landscape of this park of sandstone rock.
















 
   

 
 


Number 1107 from 1974
:These formations also are in sandstone rock, but they are located in the National Park Sete Cidades (Seven Cities) in the Piaui State on the Northeast Region. The region
is rich in rock art and in small caves.






 



 

   

 
 

Number 1154 from 1975:The picture shows a small part of a great granitic rock with more than 20 meters long and 2 meter tall covered with engraving dug in low relief. The name of the rock is Pedra do Inga, situated in Campina Grande inner of the Paraiba State in Northeast region, but without relationship with caves.




 

 







 

   



 

 

Number 1178 from 1975:This cliff, at sea shore in the Rio Grande do Sul State, on the South region, is basaltic rock with small entrances caved by the water sea forces.












 
   
 



 



 

Numbers 1731, 1732, 17333 and block 66, from 1985:

   

These stamps were printed as a series of three isolated stamps and together as a block, as showed on the side. These are really stamps from limestone Brazilian Caves, of Minas Gerais State.

The fist one, the number 1731, reproduces the rock art of the Cerca Grande Cave (Big Fence Cave), located in Matozinhos, near Belo Horizonte, in the Cave Circuit of Mnas Gerais State. The second, the number 1732, reproduces the rock art of the Caboclos Cave, located in Januaria city, on the North of Minas Gerais Satade, in the Peruacu Valley Region. The valley contains hundreds of caves and archeological sites. The third, the number 1733, reproduces the rock art from Santana do Riacho shelter stone. The three stamps were printed together as a block, the number 66, for commemorating the 6th Brazilian Philatelic Exposition, which happened on May, 1985, from 18th to 26th.

     
 

Numbers 1763, 1764 e 1765, from 1985:This series shows the canyons of the National Park of Aparados da Serra, in the Rio Grande do Sul State, on the South Region. The canyons, with up to 800 meters of depth, are opened in basaltic rock and the National Park contains some small caves.











 
   
 


Number 2027 from 1991
:The region of the Pedra Pintada (Painted Stone), located in the Roraima State, near the north Brazilian borders, is reach in archeological sites with rock art, but it doesn’t have tradition with caves.

 

 


 

   


 
 

Numbers 2084 and 2085 from 1992:
This is the National Park of Serra da Capivara (Capybara Mountain), located on the South of the Piaui State. The park contains many canyons and shelters in sandstone, many of them are covered with rock art. The litology on the border of the park are in limestone, with many caves with paleontological sites.

   



 
 


Number 2132 and 2133 from 1993
:
The pieces shown in the stamps are lithic material (axes) that were made by Brazilian pre-historic man. The pieces were found in archeological sites called “sambaquis” near of rivers and as great accumulation of shells of clams and oysters, which were used as food. These archeological sites there are not relationship with caves.

   



 
 

 
     
     
 

Number 2644 from 2000:This stamp with a climber is a stamp of a series with four stamps, which were printed to commemorate the radical sports.

   
 

Number 2689 from 2001:This stamp, which shows the Jericoacoara Beach in Ceara State, also is part of a series with three stamps about the beach of the Northeast.



   
 

 


Block number 114 from 2001
:The block shows some Brazilian precious stones (grenade and topaz). Topaz is a kind of quartz, whose crystalline form is showed on the left corner below, out of the stamps. The two crystalline forms showed (orthorhombic), are the same that occur with the aragonite, which is a common
cave mineral.

 

Number 2766 from 2002:This stamp is part of a series with six stamps that were printed to commemorate some Brazilian airplanes. The T-27 TUCANO, showed here, was represented with a mountain on the back, which remembers the formations of Chapada Diamantina.
